Kids’ Care

Kids' Care By: Amber Basford, EDDA As most parents out there know, it can be torturous trying to get our children to allow us to properly brush their teeth on a daily basis.  I won't even start in on the flossing!  And, starting your child off with good dental care can help protect their teeth for decades to come.   A baby's 20 primary teeth are already present in the jaw at birth.  Those baby teeth that begin coming through the gums around 6 months help set the stage for their future smile, by keeping space in the jaw for adult teeth.  Let's review [...]

Ins and Outs of Understanding Your Dental Insurance

The Ins and Outs of Understanding Your Dental Insurance By Rachael Baer –Front Office You’ve got a great dentist.  Awesome!  A dentist you trust - Even better!  But, let’s face it: Dental work is not cheap.  You’ll need good dental insurance to help pay the hefty fees/costs associated with more expensive dental work: fillings, crowns, bridges, scaling and root planing, etc.  The dental insurance terminology can get very confusing, even sometimes for some of us that work with it every day.  Do you know what your deductible is?  Your annual maximums?  Your coverage levels and frequencies allowed for different services?  Do [...]

Millimeters Matter

By: Cara Schurman, RDH Millimeters of what?  Millimeters of gum tissue! Periodontal screening and recording of these measurements is one of the first evaluations the Hygienist performs at your Dental Hygiene appointment, and the measurements we find in your Periodontal screening, dictate the direction we proceed.  I bring this to your attention, because I'm not sure many of you even know it's happening, or what it is.  These measurements mean everything!  So it's time you know exactly what they determine, and we encourage you to start asking how these millimeters matter to you. This screening is commonly referred to as "Perio [...]
